Young at Heart promotes intergenerational learning and befriending as one of its core activities for members.
We have various activities integrated with a local primary school to bring the young and the elderly together. Our relationship with All Saints and St Richard’s Church of England Primary School is at the core of this and the school itself is based 100 metres up the road from our location.
Children from 6 years to 11 years old will spend time with the members on a weekly basis across multiple activities.
When older adults contribute to the lives of children it cultivates a sense of purpose and extends benefits both ways.
Our aim is to help children understand that they have a part to play in the community and the wider environment including their impact on it.
Intergenerational activities bring enormous benefits to the young and old.
You have an abundance of life experience to share – children are like “sponges” and want to learn.
It will be fun!
